Over the past few years, you’ve likely heard some buzz in the news about RFID, but what exactly is it, and how could it possibly be linked to brand awareness?

RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification, and most people understand it best in the context of credit card security. The dark strip on the back of a credit card stores your account information, and transmits that information using radio frequency when you “swipe” to pay for a purchase.

We all like things that make our life easier.

However, as technology advanced, this strip became an easy target for identity theft as scammers could simply walk by and use a device to scan the account information from that strip. That’s when our industry came out with RFID proof products – protective wallets, protective cards, etc – that would block this radio frequency for your security. Soon, credit card companies started embedding a microchip into their plastic cards for added security.

Fast forward to 2019 – we’ve found a much better use for RFID without compromising security. We can now use them for promotional marketing, and it is fantastic. It’s hard to explain in words…see for yourself in the brief-but-tear-jerking videos below….

Oh….and we can embed this technology into products like t-shirts, shoes, journals, bags, etc.

Let’s brainstorm the possibilities together, shall we?
